Recently I agreed to help a person for some of the website issue she was having where to me the problem seems so trivial that I was willing to do it for free. In my mind it’s almost like charging someone to say hit record on a camera where it would seem ludicrous to charge someone for that when it is that simple for you. Her mindset is different though because from the companies she asked they wanted to charge her hundreds of dollars for it. So it’s like the polar opposite where she feels bad to get it for free.
How would you even price stuff that you find so easy to do? While I guess it probably isn’t the best financial decision as everyone needs to make money for their time ultimately to me it just seems so weird to even think about charging people for something that you can do very easily. It’s not exactly the same but it’s kind of like the joke on how a lawyer just signs their signature and gets like $300 for that.
In many ways it’s a test if you can truly always just see a business purely as a numbers thing. I guess for me in doing any kind of business I tend to treat people ow I would like to be treated too where in that sense I wouldn’t want to be charged hundreds of dollars if the problem is really that simple. Then again, in saying that even I would feel weird taking the service for free and would want to pay something.
