So today for some odd reason while writing data into my external hardrive I got an error that the file could be written. Not sure what was wrong, I stopped the operation. The drive then disappeared from the computer list and upon trying to start it up again I got a message that the drive had unallocated space as if it was a brand new drive of sort with no data. There are tons of stuff here.
Now this drive hasn’t been used too much in the sense it’s for archival storage. As well, there is still warranty on it as well where they recommend if you have this issue you should consider data recovery which can be expensive. But I have a one year data recovery service plan. Upon checking the site too it verified I still had service left until around February 11 2022 of this year. Super close to that date huh?
That’s what made me wonder though as their terms and conditions seem to have so many clauses. One example I am wondering is I bought the item around the end of 2020 but never actually used it until around February 2021. That’s when the warranty for the data recovery got activated. I tried to submit a warranty request but the site didn’t allow it in general and the number was unavailable due to it not being office hours. This is actually the first time I had to try something like this so it will be a interesting test on whether or not you can rely on services like these for a business.
