People Apologizing After Being Exposed

A few days ago there was this video released where the famous music artist Sean “Diddy” Combs was exposed in a video to what looked like an assault on his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Apparently, this was from a long time ago but when people reviewed the history of this, Sean Combs would frequently deny apparently that anything like this ever happened. So this video evidence pretty much shows tat wasn’t he case and he then followed up by releasing an apology video of sort.

The public reaction for the most part wasn’t surprising as people were cynical over his remarks while expressing that he is only doing this because he got caught. People always say forgive and forget, but would you ever accept an apology video like this from a person knowing they only apologize after being exposed? I think that’s the biggest difference on whether or not someone genuinely made an error in life is if they immediately try and correct the mistake while owning up to it. Even from person encounters with say unethical people they always seem to just continue with their ways if they actively tried to hide their past actions like these.

The other thought about these types of apologies is how it should in theory be good for PR as everyone recognizes people make mistakes right? But again, when someone waits this long it probably has the opposite effect. This is kind of an important topic too I think as there are so many stories of people who actually continue to scam people as we all like to believe that people can change. While that is true, there are just so many people who take advantage of that notion.

Just the other day I was reading some stories of people in the past who were publicly exposed for being a fraud per se a few years back. Despite that, apparent the same person tricked a few millionaires and took them for a ride too. This is all despite the history you have of the person easily available for one to read. It’s just so risky to look past people’s past crimes per se in these types of scenarios.
