What an interesting scenario this was where I was reading that the former voice over actress for the game Bayonetta was asking people to boycott the franchise due to how much they offered to pay her. According to her post on twitter, Hellena Taylor claims the company offered her $4000 US which all inclusive such as having a buyout to continue her role with the character. She didn’t accept and so as evident a new actress as hired for the job.
Nothing has really been talked about much about it but there is a new Bayonetta game coming out which makes you wonder if she is explicitly coming out now because of it which would potentially affect sales. From her statements as well it implies she had an NDA of sort that would normally stop her from talking about this stuff so it makes you wonder what will happen there.

She made an interesting statement though claiming how she made the voice of the character and that the new voice actress “has no right to say she is the voice of Bayonetta, I created that voice,” Taylor expresses. That immediately made me wonder as usually studios own the rights and likeness to a character they made up as an example. So is that an indicator that the actress is expecting way too much?
Is the best way to go about with the situation too as I can imagine while a regular person may be supportive, it is highly likely businesses would then stay away from her. If history is anything to go by in the gaming industry many people have been replaced as voice actors with initial outrage but ultimately it didn’t affect sales. So will that be the case here too? Who would you be inclined to support too based on that pay offer?
