People often warn others that the decisions they make today can haunt them for the rest of their lives later on. Especially when it comes to doing crazy things as a young adult where once you get into the workforce those wild antics you did may just come back. What was fascinating to me is how nowadays there are often a ton of opportunities to create businesses online and creating asocial media presence is often a part of it. With that I mind I was reading a story of an individual who originally created a very successful business by being very adult oriented and suggestive I guess you could say. Because of this too she eventually started to lose some opportunities from companies that didn’t want to associate with that type of brand.

That then gave the person an idea to create a completely separate offering where this new one would be family friendly. This meant creating new online personas for this separate brand as well. While everything seemed okay at first it appeared that all of the websites had enough data on the person to know that it was the same person creating these new accounts. Therefore, all their new accounts were flagged as if this new venture was inappropriate as well.
That’s kind of crazy in some ways as it’s almost like your history online will follow you everywhere in these instances regardless if your new venture per se is completely different and unrelated. Especially if the platform are all owned by the same company. Something to think about before you start putting stuff out there.
