Over the past weeks I have noticed that various retail stores are in full swing in offering promotions to entice people to do their back to school shopping with them. Interestingly enough, it seems like everything from video games to toys are also being marked as a must buy in some places.
That just seemed weird as again this is like one of those situations where a holiday or occasion is simply used as an excuse to get you to buy certain things. One good thing about this though is that if you are shopping for a present then I suppose the sale is great regardless of how a business tries to package the event.
I think the only type of place that I haven’t seen advertising some kind of back to school sale are restaurants. Wouldn’t that be strange if you read something like that on the menu? Would make it sound like it is a kid’s last meal before going back to like a dungeon or something.
This is also one of those occasions too where a company is more likely to throw items like paper and pens scattered throughout the store so that you hopefully walk by it and realize that you need it. So you figure that you may as well buy it. What I always to is that if they successfully reminded that I needed it I still go back to the section to try and price compare as most often what they put in the front has a high margin for the store.
And don’t be surprised if they throw like some chocolate bars next to those items too.
