I was watching a clip today of a person who was apparently hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and so to try and solve it people began to analyze what she during her days. She did have a family as well and it was surprising to see that her main form of entertainment for herself and the kids was literally shopping for stuff. By this I don’t mean going to the grocery store and buying your weekly needs. But rather they go to stores and buy things they think is interesting to them as that is what they consider as fun.
I was thinking about it a bit more and I guess to a less extreme extent many people do that as well. I know for myself shopping is usually an in and out type of deal as I don’t usually go to stores unless I have a specific purchasing need. Not surprisingly, when the person was told to find different ways to entertain herself and the family she saved a lot more money each month. Even paying money to go to like an amusement park was more cost effective than going to the mall for her.
