Not Expecting Support When You Start Out

The other day I was reading how a person was essentially criticizing people for not offering him financial support for his business where he wasn’t asking for much. Basically, in his mind if everyone he knew just gave him about $5 it will go a long way towards support his new business venture. But as it turned out almost no one did so which made him criticize people for it.

They usually say when it comes to starting a business the first thing you should do is contact all your friends and family members to hopefully get them to support you whether it’s by getting the word out or financial aid. My personal thought is you should never expect any kind of help from others as if it is a guarantee. Instead it should be more of a throw it out there and if someone offers help then great. Otherwise you are on your own for the time being.

I think that is important too because in many ways that makes sure that whatever idea you have is actually practical and sustainable by yourself. Because at the end of the day it is up to you. Expecting people to give you things as if they are stockholders of your company is a bit much. If anything it should be treated as a gracious donation if people offer things to you. It’s true what they say too where once you make it then everyone will want to support you.

If you think about it you will probably be the same except in the reverse where you would only want to help certain people that you feel genuinely good about too as opposed to just everybody.
