Not Having To Have The Best If It Gets The Job Done

financial literacy

While scanning some files the other day to send to a person the main method of transfer was through e-mail and some of the files were extremely large such as 20MB per file. They were mostly old newspaper articles and for the most part it was just going to be used as reference as opposed to printing duplicates as an example. So because of that I was just sensing smaller compressed versions of it and they all ended up working for the needs of the person.

It makes me think of the times we always assume we have to get the absolute best when really that could just end up costing you a ton of time and money. A great example I thought was a person who ran a video production company for school kids learning to make film. In deciding to buy a camera he had a choice of getting those super high end 8K cameras which of course captures incredible footage. However, he was mentioning how the goal was to essentially just teach kids how to film. Storing and working with 8K video is costly and time consuming. So because of that he just went with a 4K camera which worked out well.

Having the lower quality camera still looked great and it enabled him to work faster in contrast to if he had to work with the higher end items. As well most people can’t even tell the difference he was saying. As always it should be more about what you actually need as opposed to just spending a ton of money in trying to get the latest and greatest.
