A Missing Delivery By An Amazon Carrier Process

This was a first for me as recently I ordered an item on Amazon and I was expecting the shipment to come the next day. As it turned out I got a message saying that it had been delayed where I assumed it was something such as the traffic. But the package didn’t arrive which technically meant they didn’t fulfill its one day deliver guarantee.

It wasn’t a big deal as I wasn’t in a rush to get it. But another day passed and I still didn’t get it. Upon checking the status online the message said “Delay in delivery due to external factors” which was a first for me. Then the next day I actually received a phone call from Amazon asking if I received the package. At first I thought it was a scam as I never had the company phone me about an order. They just wanted to know if I received the package or not and I expressed I didn’t. They then said they will look into it.

Shortly after the message on the site updates and states “Lost by carrier – undeliverable” which again was a first. After talking with the customer support they said they could refund me or send me a new one. I asked just for another one. So this was definitely new and I assume Amazon contracts items to smaller companies or independent contractors to delivery items too. Makes me wonder if incidents like this would stop the company from using the carrier or if it would simply be a write off.
