Anyone read about this today? What a crazy figure as apparently this is the first time in history that the company Microsoft has reported a loss at around $492 million. I was thinking about this too as while that number sounds enormous for most people, I remember reading one source saying that the company made so much money overall that it’s actually good to have divisions lose money for things like write-offs. Overall they aren’t going out of business or anything as apparently they still reported like a $16.98 billion annual profit.
That makes you wonder where if you were in that situation would you be inclined to start exploring new markets to grow or would you try to expand into things completely different? It’s interesting to me too as it kind of shows the change of times and I suppose in some ways the importance of not simply just having one type of product or service offering to survive in the long-term.
