Microsoft Launching Free Digital Workshops For Job Seekers

I mentioned the other day that working on some kind of digital skill-set will be very valuable in this day and age with more people needing to work from home or requiring ways to perform tasks digitally. Especially with the downtime that COVID-19 is enforcing on a lot of people now is a great time to start learning.

So it was great to read this as apparently Microsoft us going to be releasing a bunch of content to help train people the skill-sets needed to survive in the digital age while potentially being hired for those types of roles. Best of all, it’s going to be for free. They stated the following and released a video about it:

To help address this need, today Microsoft is launching a global skills initiative aimed at bringing more digital skills to 25 million people worldwide by the end of the year. This initiative will bring together every part of our company, combining existing and new resources from LinkedIn, GitHub, and Microsoft. It will be grounded in three areas of activity:

(1) The use of data to identify in-demand jobs and the skills needed to fill them;

(2) Free access to learning paths and content to help people develop the skills these positions require;

(3) Low-cost certifications and free job-seeking tools to help people who develop these skills pursue new jobs.

So if you are looking to upgrade or learn some new skills this is great to take advantage of.
