It’s probably something everyone experiences at one time or another where you have tried to do everything the honest way only to have someone come by and scam you out of your hard earned money. This can be a result of deceptive business practices or someone literally just stealing from you. It was a little awkward though where recently I heard a person talking to a new prospective business client on a really bad experience he had with a person that essentially took his money. The other person reacted in a shocking way of course hoped that everything was okay for the person afterwards.
I was thinking though, wouldn’t it be better not to bring these things up when you are talking to fresh people in your life where you are potentially looking for some kind of partnership? In a funny way it would remind me like two people going on a date for the first time and one person going off on how horrible their ex was. I would imagine that makes people uncomfortable.
I would think it’s okay to talk about it with people who you’ve known for a little while. But not for new people you have just networked with. Spending more energy on the positive and what you bring to the table is a lot better in my opinion.
