Loving Business Competition As A Consumer

Today there was an annual technology event called CES which showcases a bunch of new products ranging from computers to cars. It’s a good indicator on what the near future will look like and what you may want to consider investing in. I was actually really interested in the computer processor race where it was a battle between Intel and the company AMD. For the most part Intel has been dominate, but in the past year AMD seemed like they came out of nowhere to create a product that surpassed Intel both in price and performance.

One great picture I felt was this image that demonstrated how a $3,999 processor could essentially beat a $20,000. That’s a huge difference where you would have to be a little crazy not to go with the lower priced option. But what it made me think of is how if there was no competition people would probably pay that $20,000 without really knowing any better. How would you really know right?

That’s why whenever hear people hoping that a large business simply kills every single competitor where they are the only one that exists it makes me wonder if they think about these kinds of scenarios. I have companies that I prefer too of course. But I usually prefer there to be a healthy amount of competition in any industry.
