Learning To Video Edit As A New Normal Skill Self Tape Actors Example

With more people opting to use video solutions for conference meetings and announcements a lot of companies are actually requesting candidates to submit videos as part of the application process. The immediate industry that comes to mind is the film industry where normally actors are called into a studio to perform an audition that is taped by the casting director. They then coach the performer to do various takes and they then edit and send the video off for studios to review. Nowadays many places are requesting the actors to do the taping themselves, edit the footage and then send it off.

Video editing is one of those skills that I naturally obtained just from enjoying it as a hobby as I edit my nature walk captures as an example. For this industry example above too it’s one of the easiest things to do. However, that’s not the case for people who have no experience. A result I noticed people scrambling to find video editors that may charge $30 an hour for what should be really quick work.

That made me think how maybe it’s time everyone learned how to video edit as a new normal everyday skill. Just like how in the past maybe a few people knew how to use a computer, today virtually everyone grows up with some kind of computer device. You don’t have to pay a lot of money either. If you can just start with free programs such as Windows Movie Maker or Apple’s iMovie. Because for the common individual you really don’t need much.

If you feel you need to get fancier there are other applications such as Davicni Resolve which is free where even professionals use that. Or if you want to pay for what many people use in the industry then afterwards you could use something such as Adobe Premiere CC. But either way, you don’t need to pay money to get started. With this new normal too spending a little time to learn video editing skills can definitely pay off.
