Learning To Optimize Your Resources If Needed

Today I did a lot of travelling around the city where time was a factor. For the most part everything in the day seemed great as I got virtually everything done with time to spare in finishing up some of my errands. As I opened my phone to get a confirmation number for a store pick up I noticed the phone dais it has about 7% battery left. No problem as I bring a portable power pack with me. However, today I apparently forgot to throw it into my backup. That’s not good as I was still going to be out for an hour or so.

Immediately, my thought was to disable all unnecessary functions and place the phone in power saving mode. All I really needed to do was get basic text information that is already on my phone while using it to tell the time. After picking up the first item I opened the phone and this time it said it was at 1% battery. This thing was going to die for sure right? I then commuted for about thirty minutes and after my second stop I checked the phone again for information and surprisingly was still at 1%.

Eventually, I made it home and sure enough the charger was siting on my desk. But the surprising thing? The phone actually survived all this time. Now granted I wasn’t doing any of my usual activities such as catching up on the news on the phone, it was such a great example on how much you can get by with just the bare minimums if you really think about it. This can be true with so many other things in life if you feel you always need more versus optimizing what you have for your needs.

I think a great example before was someone who was saying that he needed to spend hundreds of dollars on a new phone because his was running so slow. I then went through the phone with him as we started to delete all these unnecessary apps he installed over the years plus disabling some from running in the background all the time. Afterwards, his phone ran just as fast as he remembered and it suited his needs fine. It’s good to learn how to navigate a situation with very little resources as when you get an abundance of it you will tend to use every bit efficiently too.
