So recently on the news I was reading about the G8 and G20 summit that is happening over in Toronto and how there is a load of security to handle the protesters. While I am not sure if this is accurate, someone was saying to me that certain security personnel that was brought in that day was being paid about $10,000 each. I was just thinking how crazy that figure sounded. While I guess you can semi justify it where the person is essentially risking their life it just makes you wonder if that is too much.
Would you do a job like that for say $1000 a day? I’m inclined to say that you would be able to find a lot of qualified people even at that rate. It just reminds me of one of those situations where if you are not too knowledgeable about a certain field then the quick answer is to just pay someone else a lot of money to do so without much thought on finances as you assume that is just how much you need to pay. I guess this also comes down to the notion of the right rate is what people are willing to pay.
