There was an Italian Day festival today in Vancouver and I decided to do some video recordings of the festivities as I often enjoy documenting and sharing the moments with everyone. One thing that surprised me today was I was recording so much that the card filled up. I was thinking that was odd as I can usually record a long time before it fills up. While one factor was I forgot to format the card to delete old files, I do normally only record in 4K for one camera but this time I was recording in 5.3K which takes up more memory.
You may be surprised at how much more memory it takes to record things in higher resolutions which of course costs money to store. That raises the question, do you budget to record your memories in the highest quality possible even if It means more expense such as hard drive space? Or would you simply do what is good enough currently for most people to save time and money? If you were a professional doing it for work then it cam make sense to always get the best quality possible. But as a regular individual that may be different.
On one hand you can save money by just doing what is good enough. But say twenty years down the road I am sure most people would have then wished they had higher quality photos and videos of those moments. I suppose ultimately something is better than nothing and you have to do what you can afford. Or if you want to budget for it, perhaps finding a way to sell your footage as well to media companies can help you get the best of both worlds.
