Having Multiple Backups of Very Important Items

The other day I was just doing some new years archiving of all my old work and many of them simply being personal videos of family events and all. But one thing shocked me was how when I looked at my storage there was literally like a whole month’s worth of footage missing in a drive. I have no clue how that happened and first began by making a clone copy of the hard drive as maybe the file got corrupted for some reason.

There were some important stuff in there too such as how my nephew graduated from high school this year and I happened to tape it for the family. Granted I already made a final video, this would mean I potentially lost all the original footage which gives me more incentive to see if it was actually still in the drive in the future. One thing I swore I did remember doing was that I made an extra copy of all the raw footage on another drive as well which acted as a backup of the backup. Fortunately, it was all there in that one which made it less stressful in terms of potentially lost video.

A clear example how when it comes to fairly important stuff you can’t really put a price in trying to make sure you have safe backup copies of them. Not even spending thousands of dollars could potentially get it back too if I didn’t do that.
