There was so much stories today about a lawyer named Michael Avenatti who was sentenced to jail due to an extortion scheme against Nike. He previously gained a lot of fame as he went after the former US president Donald Trump in relations to an apparent sexual relationship with a porn star named Stormy Daniels. From what I read he was tearful in court as well when he was sentenced guilty.
He will eventually get out of jail after he serves his time, but it made me honestly wonder have you ever encountered an unethical business professional who in some way scammed people where he was eventually caught and actually changed as a person once the punishment was over? Because honestly all the examples that I have seen personally from real life experience is that the person didn’t change but rather tried to be smarter in terms of how they say dupe people.
I think this is important too because we are all taught to forgive and forget where we give people second chances but many times a scam artist will take advantage of that. At the same time, there probably are people who completely changed. Is that a risk that you are willing to take with your business? Like here, pretend this person came out of jail. Would you still hire him as your lawyer?
