Of course during the New Years most people have some kind of new years resolution as a way to make their lives better. Usually it involves money too where people start spending money on things to help reach their goal.
Most commonly I’d say, resolutions usually consist of making more money, finding love or losing weight to stay fit. As a result, I see a whole whack of companies all lined up with their products or services to sell to consumers as for most people they simply spend money on something to show that they are doing something. The new years gym membership is probably the most common example.
For myself, one way that saves me money and is probably one of the most effective way to achieving goals of these fashion is to simply start hanging around with the right people during my regular days. For example, if you want to make or save more money you just need to start associating/hanging around with people that are in that position/mentality you are looking to achieve. You will learn everything about habits, attitude, how they get bargains, etc.
Or take things like working out too. You could plunk down a few hundred dollars and go to the gym when it is convenient to work up a sweat, but if you start hanging around people during your regular days who are physically active you will start to pick up other habits as well such as their diets that you will probably implement in your lifestyle too. Likewise, if they like walking a lot and you have been a car person even if it is just a few blocks this will force you to change your lifestyle habits.
A lot cheaper than having to put out hundreds of dollars in hopes to get things going and this way the results will be lasting. This is kind of true for business too where you could say spend tens of thousands of dollars in advertising to attract clients or you can simply start associating with the decision makers in the community and get the word out continually.
Of course, the reverse is usually true as well. For example, if your goal was to make more money and you kept associating with people on a daily basis that have a gloom and doom approach to finance then most likely you will pick up their habits as well.
Actually….I have a fun idea that I might try for those who are interested in creating a supplemental/side income as part of their new year’s resolution. It’s a purely social/motivational activity that many people use to accomplish goals in different areas.
