Today I met a person who happened to know me through my work and as a result he was mentioning how it was great to actually meet me in-person. He then started to talk about some work that he did where he was curious if a person like myself would actually help him with work when needed. For example, due to availability one would usually turn down clients. However, in this case he was seeing if he could potentially enlist the help of people like myself to take on that work instead.
That’s an interesting thought as many times for a smaller business the other strategy is when you get too busy one would often price their services way higher to then say hire employees to be able to handle more workload. In this case the person seemed like they had more of the mentality of contracting outsiders to do the work instead where I would imagine he would still get a very tiny cut as opposed to nothing usually.
If you think about it too there is no real additional expense or resources needed. It’s almost like the person is acting like a commissioned sales person or simply offering some kind of affiliate marketing incentive for people to generate sales for the company. I suppose it’s not a bad option if you are questioning whether or not you want to invest to grow bigger internally.
