I was reading this piece of news on how an ice cream shop here in Vancouver called “Perverted Ice Cream” was closing its door due to circumstances out of their control. However, apparently they are going to continue elsewhere from what I gather and there was an article that talked about how on its last day they are going to giveaway ice cream for free. It stated “Ratcliffe shared that this is not a goodbye but a see you later. Plus, to celebrate its final day of business, Perverted is giving away free soft serve all day and night”.
That made me think if that was purely a business strategy to generate more attention or if it is simply financial where instead of spending money trying to carry out all the unused product they could just give it away for free. Maybe it’s a little bit of both but I guess it’s not a bad idea business wise as this raised awareness about it even to a person like myself. In looking at the location too I pass by it all the time but actually had no idea of its existent.
If you were permanently exiting the business world then I can see the argument of how you may as well get what you can. At the same time I think giving stuff away could give you that extra boost of attention just like the above should you decide to do something else. Either way, just don’t waste it I guess you can say.
