Often when it comes to something competitive like running a business I notice that people often have this image that the person they are competing with must be like this heartless mafia member that is laughing in the background as they just want to crush everyone. Or at the same time all they care about is pure profit whereas a person like yourself is just trying to feed your family and to do some good in the community.
I was seeing one example of this of two people who absolutely despised each other from a business standpoint where they never actually met each other. Long story short, it was funny as once they met each other it just painted such a different picture. Now it was no longer the image of a mafia member but rather they each discovered that their goals and values were the same in many ways. They even started to work together such as sharing resources whenever possible to save money.
Sometimes taking the time to actually meet and learn about the people behind a business can end up making it better for everyone. Not everything is like the movies and our imagination can kind of make us a little bias as to how things really are. Instead of trying to fill in the blanks with assumptions you can get the real picture by just taking some time to learn about people.
