Today it was clear that I needed some new batteries for my drone where normally these types of purchases wouldn’t be a big deal. However, the battery costs about $70 without tax yet and there are actually newer models out where you can get a package for about $350. That always makes it tricky in regards to determining what is the best value. Like there, I could essentially treat it as spending $280 instead to et something new. But at the same time, it is spending $280 more dollars that I didn’t intend to.
I was actually thinking of buying a newer model too. In this case though, what really got me to think is how the year is actually almost over. So, if I really wanted to buy a new drone I am sure there will be deals during Black Friday that will provide significant savings that I would regret if I bought a newer model now. Therefore, I ultimately just decided to buy the replacement battery.
If the hardware itself was malfunctioned then in this case I would simply invest in the newer model as it doesn’t seem worth it to spend hundreds of dollars to make something older try to run like new again when you can just get something new within the price range.
