Ever since online shopping comparison sites came out there have also been a lot of sites that focus on local deals where people share information that they know about upcoming sales and discounts. As a result, what I have always found useful in saving money is trying to find out sales that are happening the week after before plunging in on any deals that may look great at the current week.
As an example, last week I noticed that a lot of people were going crazy for this computer monitor as it looked like it was about $100 off the original price. Sure enough, next week flyers showed that it was going to be about $150 off. That’s always annoying when you make a purchase like that. Now I know many will say that these days most stores have a price protection policy anyways where you shouldn’t have to worry about these types of scenarios.
I have found though that many times these types of sales would have clauses such as “limited quantity sales†which would prevent you from getting the difference. As well, for things like groceries I highly doubt that most people would bring back say a bag of apples and price protect that. Therefore, it’s better to do the research ahead of time to avoid the hassle.
Search engines like Google make it so darn easy too I have found to discover things like store flyers that have yet to be distributed to people’s home. Another way to find out about the upcoming sales is that when it comes to large chain stores certain regions have different weekly sales dates.
For example, for most places here it’s usually Friday when new sales occur. However, in a different region it could be Wednesday. So, if you look at the Wednesday flyer from the other part of the country there is a high chance that the one for your region will have the same items on sale when you get your flyer.
