There are actually still a lot of businesses here that insist in taking cash only for purchases where usually as a result they are able to offer items cheaper since they don’t have to pay the fees associated with taking credit cards as an example. With that said, there was this one place in recent weeks where I noticed their items weren’t cheaper compared to other places. In many cases, the prices were virtually identical.
As a result, there was no reason to purchase from them as I would technically be losing money since I can’t use my credit card and get cashback bonuses as an example. It makes me wonder if they just decided that they wanted to make more money for the week even though there is an expectation that the inconvenience of cash only carries an expectation that it’s worth it for the discount normally. Even many small corner stores accept card payments nowadays.
The only times I usually pay cash otherwise is at restaurants such as if the whole tab is being paid under one card and so you give that one person your amount. Because again, I may as well be able to earn money with my card otherwise.
