Today there was a store opening which happened to be a Loblaws City Mart in the core of downtown Vancouver which is a little usual as you would normally expect these massive supermarkets to be outside of the downtown core due to factors such as space rental. I had to pay a visit to check out the prices as usually for a lot of stores in these areas I find the prices can often be more expensive than their counterparts in other areas.
You may say that franchises like these should all have the same prices. That is true when it comes to weekly flyer items most of the time. However, for the non sale items I can usually find more deals in stores located within area where the rent should be cheaper. That seemed to be the case here as all the promotional items were a good deal. But the non sale items seemed to be more expensive many times.
Of course, because of the buying power of the company they can sell various items cheaper than the smaller stores if they really want to. If anything though at least this gives more choices and you have another place to price match if necessary.
