Ever Tell People They Can’t Be An Entrepreneur

I was thinking the other day where there was a person who has literally been telling me for years that he was going to start this business as he was prepared to invest in all these equipment. Initially he wanted me to get involved with it as a partner but I declined as I simply didn’t have the time or interest to start a venture from ground up with him. It seemed like he mainly wanted me to help generate sales and I said I was more than happy to work for him from time to time once he got everything going. I had my doubts too that he would ever get started since it seemed like he always had a reason why he couldn’t do something. Usually the trait you want to see is a person say “how can I get this done” type of response instead.

Fast forward since and unfortunately as I thought the person never actually followed through in starting the actual business. He actual paid a ton of money for resources and training but then he kept complaining how little business potential there is to make any money. It’s weird he would say that since he technically didn’t even launch his business yet. He kept expressing why he wanted to start his business so that he could quit his job but then followed up with how there is no money to be made in what he wants to do because of a small market.

I guess to show that wasn’t true I was saying how I did a job for a person where I wasn’t even looking for it. Instead the company found me. So if a person like me who wasn’t even trying could get customers then technically he should do way better since he is focused on it. His response was that he was just different so I can’t really compare myself to him in the same way. It did make me wonder where in these cases would you actually tell people you don’t think they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

In some cases it feels like the right thing to do. In another way you know people can change if they find the right motivation. Whether or not you want to spend your energy on it is another question I suppose.
