This was the big news today where billionaire Elon Musk has finally acquired the social media platform Twitter. Depending on your views this is either good or bad as apparently he bought it with the goal of promoting free speech. From a business standpoint this will be interesting to see what he does with it and if it will end up being a money maker or a consistent money drain. He might actually be one of the few who could consistently keep it running even at a loss with all his other businesses.
It will be a time drain too I would imagine in running a social media company where you have to potentially worry so much about what is being published on the platform while getting scrutinized by regulators wanting you to abide by their laws when it comes to publishing various items. Imagine if he doesn’t make money out of this and all the extra time he needs to invest in it now.
Then again, with the companies he has made he probably has unique way in running a business. But I am fascinated to see how this business will grow now with the ownership change.
