Dressing Up For Better Service And Discounts

large business and finance

Funny story I was told a scenario where a person decided that he wanted to buy some jewelry for his wife as a gift. So he decided to go to various shops to see the deals. For the most part workers at the store greeted him and when asked what was good he would mostly receive generic responses such as how he should see what’s on display as everything is good. When he was more serious in actually making a purchase, apparently he decided to dress up in a suit and all as he knew he would get a different response.

Apparently, that was the case as store workers were like a pack of wolves where it’s like you know that guy is going to buy something and so they wanted that sale to to be credited to them. This resulted in getting better service to even the employees telling the guy about discounts as well as potentially being able to drop down prices. This may sound like a dumb thing to do if you are looking to get better deals but I don’t doubt this technique at all. It’s just natural that people have a bias in terms of what a “buyer” would look like versus someone that has say no money. May as well work with it too.
