Someone was telling me today on how they knew a person who always goes on a spending spree as a way to reduce stress and anxiety in life. I suppose it’s like how some people do nothing but eat all day when they are in a stressful predicament.
Maybe it’s just the difference in the way of thinking. I personally get more uneasy if I am just carelessly making purchases. The thought of burning money at that moment outweighs the satisfaction in being able to spend freely as if I had a tree that grows money.
Speaking for myself, the main situation where it would be relaxing or comforting to just spend is if it is a scenario where I am enhancing something that I was going to get/do anyways. Example, getting a better seating at an event or spending more for features on a product that would improve my situation. Like with that it is great to let go a times, but in general it is in a more planned way.
Just spending for the sake of it would give me the same wasteful/remorse feeling of say buying a whole loaf of bread that expires in 1 day even though you know you will only be able to eat half of it. I guess it really depends on how much of a long-term thinker you are for things in general as well.
