This was apparently going around today where apparently Disney’s president, Kary Burke, stated on a video how due to some recent events in the US she felt the need to speak out and how she hopes in the future there will be a minimum of 50% LGBTQIA characters in their stories which is generating mixed reactions. Some feel young children should not be exposed to these kinds of materials while others say they should.

This is a rather sticky topic I think business wise and to my knowledge this video wasn’t supposed to go public I believe. But now that it is out there it makes me wonder if the company will be embraced more or suffer extreme backlash as this is a topic that seems to be dividing people a lot here. Interestingly enough, in some countries such as China they have rules that essentially ban say males from being too feminine as an example where for companies there they definitely wouldn’t have much choice.
It’s always a major risk to be that outspoken about a subject that currently generates heated debate. Especially if you are the president of a large corporation.
