Today in the mail I got a $30 rebate from a product that I bought about four months ago. The first thing I noticed was that this rebate was in a form of an American Express pre-paid credit card. I was then thinking how this actually limited me in terms of where I could spend this as most places usually accept Mastercard or Visa only.
I was literally thinking of selling this to a person for $30 in cash if it comes down to it that I wanted to spend it in a place that didn’t accept American express. Makes me wonder if it is really that much cheaper or efficient to issue rebates in a pre-paid credit card form as opposed to an old fashion cheque.
