We are often advised that if we lose money due to some kind of bad or uncontrollable situation that we should just move on. One example that was used was let’s pretend every month you made $10,000. For some reason you got scammed out of $200 that month. So like there the mentality was instead of focusing on that $200 loss for the month you should instead just focus on the other $10,000 you are going to get again while finding ways to make more with that.
I remember watching another person talk about this where his example was an individual came up to him for advice as financially he got taken advantage of by a family member where he lost hundreds of dollars. He was so uptight about it to the point where he was saying how because of that he was in a sense ruined. So the person literally offered the victim the exact amount of money he lost where financially that should put him back to where he was to move on. However, he was still unhappy.
That was an extreme example where many times it’s best to move on. I understand the psychological scar where it’s simply not about the money as opposed to the principles. But I think you need to recognize that you aren’t doing yourself any favors by latching on to it. For myself the balance I have found is that if I was scammed financially then I simply document it and publish the truth of my experience.
I simply let the universe decide if anything will come of it afterwards while in the meantime I go back to focusing on my life and trying to do more good things. In many ways it’s like putting someone to work for you. Remember it so that you are less likely to get into the situation again. But don’t stay in it as there are too many good things to do that will more than make up for it.
