This one’s funny. Usually when I go grocery shopping, I often get these deals from the apps, as they want you to buy certain things. And this one in particular got me interested a bit, because it said you could buy these boxes of cereal for six dollars each. At first when I was looking at it I thought that was actually kind of expensive, because to me a good deal for a box of cereal nowadays is usually, let’s just say, between maybe two to five dollars in that range, to really make me think it’s an okay deal if you’re actually into it.
So out of curiosity, since they offered it for six dollars, I went to the aisle just to see what the price was. And I was actually surprised, because the price on the aisle was actually cheaper than the one that they offered in this app. Now why is that? Well, according to this, it indicates the reason why it’s cheaper is because they did a price match. Now, it was actually more expensive overall as it seemed like it was almost seven dollars normally at the store. But because they did their competitor shopping, they basically matched the price. And so it’s just kind of funny: four ninety-nine you pay just paying the normal price, versus what they offered you in the app.
And it’s an important lesson in general where many times you have to do your comparison shopping as just because you get some coupons or offers from a store, it might not actually be the best deal. So just a reminder: when you’re doing your shopping, you have to look around, as those deals that they list in the flyers or the apps may not be the best.
