I was reading some sports news recently on how a well known UFC fighter named Anderson Silva will be fighting a popular social media personality named Jake Paul in a boxing match which makes you wonder if it will be lopsided. Initially the assumption would be that the pro fighter, Anderson Silva, will win for sure. However, keep in mind he’s older now and having gone through a lot of fights where some have been serious in regards to injuries it could be a case where Jake Paul will be younger and more fit for the boxing match overall.
Now usually in these cases one could say they beat a legend as an example if they won in these situations. But I have to wonder where like in these cases you aren’t exactly fighting the person when they were in their prime so you can’t really treat it as if it was. But with that said, it is a good marketing gimmick to get people to watch I suppose which is probably the point of the boxing match.
Would you ever do that as a way to raise your own profile regardless of what industry it is in? Because if one say loses to the legend in a competition then for most people it wouldn’t be a shocker as the fact that they even participated with them is probably big. But if they actually win then they can say they beat the person which in a lot of people’s view will increase their credibility and worth.
It could work the other way around of course where if the legend beats the younger athlete as an example it’s a testament to how good they truly are at a time where most people have just assumed they don’t have it a anymore.
