Companies Removing Black People From Product Branding

This seemed to happen abruptly where because of all the world tension about police brutality and specifically about black people racism various companies are in the midst of re-branding their products where people may feel that having a black character as the face of specific products can be deemed as a contributing factor to items such as systemic racism.

Product brands included Aunt Jemima, Uncle Bens and Cream Wheat. It seems companies don’t want to take the chance of backlash where at the same time it should theoretically make them stand out per se being organizations that took action when they weren’t required to. But there were a lot of regular consumers that disagreed with the decision with some saying having a black character with a brand that gets so much exposure and recognition should be good.

It’s an interesting position to be In as I have often heard of people saying past films should be destroyed as an example because it promoted stereotypes. Whereas others would argue that was simply a reflection of the times. If you are a company just starting out too maybe this is sign that whatever branding you use should be as neutral as possible.
