Classifying Beauty And Fashion Related Services As Essential

With a lot of businesses trying to get back to normal there were often comments from people who mentioned that they were willing to pay a high premium to get things like a haircut as they simply can’t live any longer having so much messy hair. This was the interesting thing as it raised the debate on how people consider things like this as essential when in reality things like food and shelter should be at the top.

It raises the points on how dependent so many people are when it comes to beauty which makes you think how much less money would you need in your daily life if you didn’t care too much about things like this? That’s not to say don’t get a haircut as an example, but rather paying $50 for haircut because you have to have it seems a bit excessive.

The argument I usually here is it’s like a suit. Sure you don’t really need it if you think about it. But due to the way people have a natural bias in terms of success and professionalism when they see people wearing one you could argue you are costing yourself more money because of people bypassing you with this subjective detail. So in that sense is it sensible to consider things like the beauty and fashion industry as essential when it comes to your budget?
