Merry Christmas everyone. While for myself the day was relaxing for the most part I had to take the sea bus today which of course meant it was operational and had employees. One person started to talk to the operator to ask her how her day was and her response was that it was a nice quiet day. I was thinking as usually when people have to work on a holiday like this they dread it. However, to her it seemed like it was just a good day to work with very little stress.
Usually as well many people get paid an extra premium to work on holidays like this since no one else wants to work. I know some employees at like the Shaw cable company where they pay people so much more that they have an excess of people who are available for the day. I remember one person saying how he could pretty much take a vacation for a week or so for working that one day.
Makes me wonder where for a lot of people nowadays if they actually see it as more beneficial in the long run to work on a statutory holiday. I would imagine like for Christmas you would simply attend what you can after you are done. Or a lot of work places I would imagine would have festivities there as well. But hopefully everyone is more relaxed though at minimum. Happy holidays everyone as I am sure it will be the polar opposite tomorrow since it is boxing day.
