Recently I was looking around the area for some potential martial arts gyms and one caught my attention as it was close by and seemed to be reputable. As usual, I like to see what the schedules and fee breakdowns are as if most of the times conflict with your schedule then it would be pointless. Like most places too they seem to have programs geared towards kids. Now usually in a lot of businesses kids are actually charged less. But in this case it seems like they were charged more.
There are two things that crossed my mind where the first one could be kids are a bit harder to teach than an adult you would think and so the extra cost is due to the extra labor. But the other thing I was thinking about is maybe that is just due to the fact that a lot of parents simply spend a lot of money on their kids and perhaps the business is capitalizing on this.
Normally businesses would go out of their way to try and make the fees for kids cheaper because luring the kids would usually mean the parents would go as well and spend money such as at a restaurant. But I guess for things like a martial arts program the parents don’t usually sign up as well. But it is interesting to see how businesses take advantage of the younger demographic.
