Eventually everyone will be getting back to work and re-opening their businesses with a new normal procedure of things such as physical distancing or requiring masks. A lot of people are still wondering how this will even be practical for services like a barber shop. There will be additional expenses associated with this and so what I was hearing is that businesses are contemplating about charging customers a COVID-19 related service fee to help make up for the additional expenses. For example, buying disposable glove.
You have to wonder if that is a good idea overall and where people would be understanding of it. For barbers I was reading comments how some places have actually been wearing things like gloves and mask all the time even before the pandemic. So to them it will be nothing new. Then again those places usually do charge a lot more for their services compared to a smaller store.
It almost reminds me of how certain small businesses try and charge an additional fee if one opts to use a credit card even though you aren’t supposed to do that in some ways. Or others usually try and implement a minimum purchase amount to use a credit card. We’ll have to see how businesses adapt to the changes.
