So today I heard these guys furiously debating on what was the “right” and “wrong way” to run a certain business/venture where both sides used real examples to prove their point. Not surprisingly it also went into various directions such as one guy referencing quotes and examples from highly successful people as if that is the rule you must follow. This was the funny part. A third person then came in saying how all those points are in no way a do or die rule as all he had was a lot of money which pretty much allowed him to make his own rules and he openly admitted that most people were willing to bend their own rules because of it as well.
Some examples he used was when it came to networking. For example, this person was saying meeting the right people is a key factor to achieving success. While to meet the right people in many cases you could argue that you need to come up with a crazy invention or idea that is outstanding he bluntly said that he didn’t have to do any of that at first as the size of his wallet was enough to get people to treat him differently where he had access to a lot of resources that you would normally have to earn.
He gave even more examples such as while in many cases you only have one time to make a good impression to a big shot for him because people knew he had a lot of money they were willing to further tolerate errors and mishaps on his part. Of course, he was saying a key thing too was that he recognized how money can pretty much change the rules and beliefs for many and so he openly admitted to taking advantage of this fact.
This is probably one of those topics that people despise but at the same time can’t deny as well. That should make you think at times too as it almost reminds me of say a business ignoring certain customers and only paying attention to who they think are the richest. Like that you could argue you need to write the best proposal or outlined plan to get their attention when really just having like say one wealthy person say one thing to them could get their attention instantly.
