I am still waiting for all the parts to come up in order to build a new compute and the graphics card is still up in the air on which one to get. Nvidia’s 5000 series cards seemed great, but the price is ludicrous with many of them reaching the $2000 Canadian range. However, AMD has just released a decent contender with its RX 9070 XT series that is selling out fast. With that in mind, I actually saw some places with stock with card still at a MSRP price of about $869.99. So, should I buy it just to hold on as it may easily rise in price?
The issue is I don’t know when I would be getting the other parts I need so there may be a chance where by the time I get those parts maybe the cards will be on sale for a better price. Of course, if they keep selling out then scalpers will have a field day and I would be out of luck. There is my other thought where I could just buy it and if I end up not wanting it and it is in high demand I could literally just sell it at cost which people should want.
Tech is always more interesting financially since you would usually need to spend a lot of money upfront and it could be a hit or miss in terms of the product getting outdated fast too.
