While trying to think of what gifts to buy people for Christmas, for a lot of family members many times I usually try to think of buying one good item that everyone can use. For example, instead of getting everyone like a $30 item each, if I know that they could use say a new computer monitor then I would tend to buy that as they all would use it.
I think the only tricky thing in doing this is if you are say buying a present where the family has two kids. It’s not hard to see how the kids may have a hard time sharing in that scenario unless the item is something of a substantial value like say a video game system. This definitely saves me a lot of time though.
