This was kind of an interesting thought about finance and whether or not one has to have a car for their everyday life. It is becoming more common for people to try and ditch the car as much as possible. For example, parking fees ca be horrendous in the downtown core and so many people opt to say transit there instead during big events. I have even seen some use a scooter or bicycle regularly instead.
But this was an interesting comment from a person where the reason why he thinks you have to have a car is because you will need one if you ever enter into a relationship. He wasn’t talking about a marriage but rather dating or going out with someone where you are officially a couple. In his view people who don’t own a vehicle can never be in a relationship.
I can’t say I would agree with that as I do know there are people who try and live locally as much as possible without the need to comminute as an example. Is this still a thing though where people pre-judge others in the sense of if they don’t own a vehicle then they are somehow less successful financially? Maybe in the past that would be true, but today with so many opportunities to do things such as create an online business or working from home I can imagine people save a lot of money by making a lifestyle that doesn’t require it.
I am inclined to ask too do people really want to be with someone if owning a vehicle is their biggest criteria for entering into a relationship?
