As I am pretty sure everyone has been hearing about that Sandy Hurricane that is ripping through the Eastern cost areas. That usually means everything from businesses to schools will of course be shut down. One interesting conversation I heard was how some people were saying that anyone who runs their business during these times are unethical as people should be dropping everything to focus in helping others instead.
For example, imagine a person that has his business primarily online where he can still run his business as usual and as ell now serve those customers whom would have normally gone elsewhere. Basically, that person was getting a lot of criticism that he was taking advantage of a situation and that people shouldn’t support him. I have often heard this type of debate happen more often to people who offer entertainment type of services such as say a radio show as people say you shouldn’t even care about things like that during a disaster.
In my view as long as they aren’t specifically trying to manipulate and take advantage of people’s emotions during a tough time then I don’t see why one would want to stop others from running a business. I would think they are doing a service in many ways too by still being an option for people to get various items and services. This hurricane sure seems like it is going to go n the history books for sure though.
