This got me thinking as the other day I was reading how a person was giving advice on how to stand out from the crowd with key figures in an effort to try and land contracts over others. He talked about presentation style and how one person expressed it was important to go with a specific direction as to them everyone else who doesn’t simply looks like everyone else. So in that regards it makes sense. However, I explicitly remember another industry figure saying how being too fancy actually encourages them to pass on someone as they would rather judge people on their skill.
Imagine there if one went all in to invest in all the resources to execute a business based on the first advice. It will work on that one person, but everyone else is still an uncertainty. It’s a reminder that many times when you get advice you have to try and hear from as many different sources as possible because people are often giving you advice based on their specific circumstances. Example, people who grew up in a different generation where the technology was different.
The worst-case scenario is one dumping thousands of dollars to get this advice where most people wouldn’t want to just sit on that advice that they paid so much money for. So, they go all in just hoping it would work. Try to keep your options open until you are semi positive on what direction actually works best for the path you wish to take.
