I was watching this documentary today about an Internet personality known as Boogie 2988 as a he become famous doing skits as a raging overweight gamer of sort as people loved to laugh and mock him for it. He was a huge success too on YouTube by the looks of it and made a lot of money in the process. As time went on his fame started to fade and his spending didn’t seem to adapt to it to the point where he was barely making it through the month financially.
The crazy yet interesting thing in these stories is how people say they are broke and can’t survive yet in this documentary it constantly shows that it’s more of a lifestyle choice. Example, saying he had to buy certain video games or spending hundreds of dollars going to various clubs and events. While he did mention about health issues as a big reason for his high expenses, at the end of the day it did feel like he kept making bad choices where people giving him money reinforced the idea that he didn’t really need to change overall.
There were other points too that stuck out such as how many people say they are so poor that they have to go to McDonalds for a meal. That is a luxury in general if you are dining out versus making your own meals in my opinion. It’s a common question in these cases on whether or not people can truly change. But one thing is for sure, people can really learn from these stories on how to hopefully not get into that type of lifestyle of frequent debt and mismanaging wealth when you get it. We all think of how to get to that point of financial freedom but often spend very little time on how to actually stay there.
