While walking through the mall today I was expecting to see a lot of kids with their parents trick or treating at stores. Usually, businesses would hand out some candy in the spirit of the event. But this year there were so many businesses with signs saying they aren’t handing out any candy which makes you wonder if you should offer something even if it is very small.
I can see the business reason not to such as the demographic they serve wouldn’t normally target say kids. So why waste time and money on it right? Usually for certain holidays such as Christmas though a business will go out of its way to offer something in the spirit of the occasion to appear as if they are part of the community. It makes you wonder, should you usually do something?
For example, in this case I would think offering even just a few candy and then having a sign that you ran out would show you at least participated while not going too far where it could disrupt your business. Would this be a good and inexpensive way to be a pat of your community as well?
